Jacob Edwards is a multi-talented comedian, known as a versatile character stand-up, comic actor, TV host and comedy writer.
His television credits include ‘Drifters’ (Channel 4), ‘Porters’ (Dave), ‘Let’s Dance for Comic Relief’ (BBC One), ‘Fool Britannia’ (ITV), ‘10 O’Clock Live’ (Channel 4), ‘I Live with Models’ (Comedy Central) and ‘The IT Crowd’ (Channel 4).
Jacob was also a regular on ‘Live at the Electric’ (BBC Three), writing and performing as his own character creation Roger Showbusiness.
His film credits include ‘Burke & Hare’, where he was cast by director John Landis (‘The Blues Brothers’) to appear with Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis and Isla Fisher.
He has fronted numerous commercial campaigns for major worldwide brands, appearing alongside George Clooney for Nespresso, and more recently as the face of First Direct bank in the UK.
His other commercial credits include Toyota, Virgin Atlantic, Heineken, Jaguar, Square Space, Phillips, Total, Rowenta, Currys PC World, Cheerios, AXA, Maltesers, Oreo, Secret Sales, O2, The Body Shop, Qualcomm, McVitie’s, Unibet, E4, Wren Living, Easy Property, NSPCC and Capital FM among others.
Jacob also appeared as Ed Milliband in the worldwide viral hit 'Change the Tune', a party political broadcast for the Green Party across television, also generating over 1 million views online.
As himself, Jacob hosted ‘CTRL Freaks’ (London Live), a ground-breaking entertainment series where he took control of contestants’ lives through their social media feeds.
He has also hosted online series ‘Movie Mates’ for Orange and ‘Success TV’ for Nokia and has appeared as a panellist on shows including ‘Big Brother’s Bit on the Side’ (Channel 5).
At the Edinburgh Festival, Jacob has written and performed in highly acclaimed shows at both the prestigious Pleasance Courtyard and Assembly Rooms.
As part of the duo ‘The Sunday Defensive’ he appeared in ‘Friend & Foe’ and ‘Further Complications’, with Chortle noting his ‘pure brilliance’ and ‘exceptional comic timing’, and Fest describing him as ‘gruesomely funny with uproarious results’.
The Skinny described his most recent solo show ‘Faux Latino Show Pony’ as ‘electrifying’ and ‘violently funny’ in one of multiple 5-star reviews, with Three Weeks calling him ‘an urbane, moronic, hedonistic clown’ and ‘hilarious’.
Jacob has appeared at the National Theatre, in musicals ‘Bartholomew Fair’ directed by Sir Richard Eyre and Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Sunday in the Park with George’.
He is also a veteran of the West End stage, appearing in the musical ‘Which Witch’ at the Piccadilly Theatre, the 10th anniversary ‘Comedy Rush’ at the Shaftesbury Theatre and in two self-written sitcoms ‘The Backbenchers’ and ‘Social+ism’, performed as part of ‘The Comedy Project’ at the Soho Theatre.
